It may be cold and occasionally rainy, but winter isn’t all bad – especially when you wake up to a crisp blanket of frost and winter sun shining over the New Forest!

WARM UP WITH A WINTER WALK
With so many scenic locations on your doorstep, you’ll be spoilt for choice on winter walks in the New Forest.
Some of our favourite spots include Yew Tree bottom, which is the perfect spot to watch the sun rise and the wildlife awaken. Nearby there is also Broadley Inclosure, where you can follow a circular path around the Wooton Coppice Inclosure and loop back to the car park. Here you are almost certain to spot some deer wandering the paths and grazing between the trees - if you are very quiet of course!
If you are willing to travel a bit further from Bashley, then we’d recommend a trip to Roydon Woods nature reserve on the outskirts of Brockenhurst village, but don’t forget your wellies!
COSY UP IN A TRADITIONAL COUNTRY PUB
There’s nothing quite as cosy as being huddled in an armchair, next to a log fire in a good old-fashioned pub and you won’t be short of those in the New Forest. After all that walking, you’ll definitely be deserving of a warming plate of food and of course, a cool drink!
Our local favourites include The Plough which is in walking distance from Hoburne Bashley, The Snakecatcher in Brockenhurst and if you’re willing to travel a little bit further, New Forest Inn at Lyndhurst – trust us, the Sunday roasts are worth the drive!
