The ultimate UK staycation destinations?
Whether you’re longing for lazy afternoon by the sea, or an action-packed adventure with all the attractions on your doorstep, Cornwall and Devon have got to be up there with the UK’s top UK staycation destinations.
With three stunning Hoburne holiday parks in these locations, you really are spoilt for choice. To make your decision a little easier, we’ve summarised what makes each of our parks (and their regions) so great.
CORNWALL
A break at one of our Cornish holiday parks really does offer you the best of both worlds. Our Cornwall parks are quiet, with Hoburne St Mabyn having no facilities and Hoburne Doublebois having just a golf course, games room and sports facilities. Both parks put you in the perfect position for getting close to nature with woodland trails, nearby rivers, and an abundance of wildlife.
In contrast to the calm cocoon of the park, Cornwall is a hive of activity. Whichever direction you travel, you’ll be met by theme parks, weekly markets, surf schools and bustling high streets with award-winning eateries.
Some of our favourite spots include Looe, where you can shop till you drop down the cobbled streets and enjoy fresh local produce in the cafes and pubs and Fowey. Fowey is another great place to sample some local goods at the harbourside cafes and bars. If you’re feeling adventurous, then you could take a boat trip around the harbour, or even hire a boat to drive yourself.
Our ‘must do’ in Cornwall: The Eden Project and fish and chips on the beach!
DEVON
A staycation at Hoburne Devon Bay has every ingredient for non-stop family fun. The entertainment complex, amusement arcade, indoor and outdoor pools, sports courts, adventure golf, play areas, restaurant and bar mean that you’ll never have to leave the park if you don’t want to. However, with so much to do right on your doorstep, it’d be rude not to!
From Hoburne Devon Bay, you can follow the beach path to Goodrington Sands which has all the characteristics of the typical charming English seaside resort. It’s the perfect spot for bathing in the sea and also offers lots of activities for water sports enthusiasts including water skiing and ringo rides. There’s also the steam train which runs between Paignton and Dartmouth if you fancy a change of scenery.
If the beach isn’t your thing, then there’s also plenty of local attractions including Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe Model Village and Splashdown Waterpark. All are accessible via the open-top bus that stops at the park each day!
For those hoping to get back to basics, the rugged landscape of Dartmoor is not far away. Enjoy spectacular hilltop views and keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife – little and large! We’d recommend reading up on the history before you visit, it really does bring the landscape to life.
Our ‘must do’ in Devon: Take the open-top bus from the park and explore the local villages!
